Inspired by her elementary teacher who was a mathematician and passionate about science, Dr. Luiza Nogaj, a young girl growing up in Poland, knew that she wanted to study Biology and Chemistry. Although science is not a subject readily associated with women, Dr. Nogaj was an exception. In 2005, she earned her PhD in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, and Biochemistry from Brown University.
This biopic allows it’s audience to delve into the life of an artist. An artist of phenomenal proportions, who was able to help open the door for women to be influential within the art world. Even to this day she still perpetuates this idea of “breaking the glass ceiling”, which is seen and affluently done in the film, “Frida” directed by Julie Taymor.
All around the world, International Women’s Day represents an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of women while calling for greater equality.
